York
Waste Awarded Trash Contract
The
Township trash contract, which went out for bid in July 2008, was awarded
to York Waste Disposal. The new contract began on October 1,
2008 and will run through September 30, 2011.
On October 1, 2009, the toter service will
cost $46.80 per quarter and the bag rate will be $3.62; and in the final
year of the contract beginning on October 1, 2010, the toter service will
cost $48.18 per quarter and the bag rate will be $3.75 per bag.
Trash
Tips:
If you
toter or recycling bin is broken or disappears, please contact York Waste
at 1.800.210.9675 for a replacement. Extra toter's or recycling bins
are not kept at the township office.
Residents
are permitted to put out one bulk item per week for pick up. Bulk
items may be no larger than what can be lifted by two (2) men.
Examples: sofa, love seat, chair, kitchen table and chairs, box
spring and mattress, washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, etc.
Freon does not have to be removed by the resident for York Waste to pick
up the appliance.
Collection will not be made on the following holidays: New Year's
Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas
Day. If a holiday occurs on a day scheduled for collection, the
trash pick up schedule will be pushed back a day.
The trash toter's can not weight any more than 200 lbs. Residents
can fit three 30 gallon trash bags in their 90 gallon toter's.
Anything over that residents will need to purchase extra trash tags.
Township Recycling
The
township's recycling ordinance applies to both residential and commercial
properties.
The following items are recyclable and
can be placed in your curbside bin and mixed all together:

Aluminum food and beverage containers

Glass food and beverage containers with
lids removed

Natural and pigmented plastic
narrow-neck containers with symbols 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (milk,
water, detergent, shampoo, and bleach bottles)

Ferrous (iron, steel, tin) cans
-
Newsprint (black and white or pigmented)
-
Construction paper, Kraft paper, cereal
boxes, shoe boxes or similar items
-
Print paper, computer paper, copy paper
-
Junk mail
-
Magazines and catalogs
-
Corrugated cardboard this is small
enough to fit into the bin/toter and not bound
-
Phone books
Please remember when disposing of these
items please remove food debris.
