SPRING ROAD BRIDGE PROJECT

Beginning June 11, 2009 the Route 34/Spring Road bridge over the Conodoguinet Creek will be closed so the bridge can be replaced.   Officials expect the bridge to be open by the end of November, but may not be completed until April 2010.  The state detour will follow Route 944 West to Route 74 South.  Click here to read more on the project.

EXIT 44 CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The Exit 44 Project construction began on Monday, April 6, 2009.  Daytime working hours will be from 9:00am until 3:00pm.  Nighttime working hours will be from 6:00pm until 6:00am.  During construction the section of Allen Road / SR 465 from Walnut Bottom Road to SR 0011 will have periodic lane closures.  A minimum of one lane will be open to traffic in each direction at all times.  Construction is expected to be completed by November 15, 2010.

Traffic switch on I-81 Southbound Off-Ramp: Traffic exiting I-81 South at Exit 44 (Plainfield) will be switched onto the existing outside shoulder of the ramp. Traffic will be permitted to turn right or left onto Allen Road (SR 465) at the bottom of the ramp.

Traffic switch on Allen Road (SR 465): Traffic will be switched onto temporary pavement between Alexander Springs Road (T-469) and Ames Drive (T-412). Southbound traffic on Allen Road will be switched onto temporary roadway pavement and northbound traffic will be switched onto the existing southbound lane.

Closing of On-Ramp to Southbound I-81: The existing ramp which permits vehicular traffic to access I-81 southbound from Allen Road will be closed for reconstruction. Motorists will be required to access I-81 southbound via a temporary ramp that has been constructed approximately 75 feet south of the existing ramp.
